Iron Rock Offroad Transfer Case protection/Skid
For those of you running Iron Rock Offroads long arm kit: what did you do for a transfer case skid plate and protection? I bought the skid row skid plate but it will not work well as it hangs down much lower than the IRO crossmember
What skids are you guys running with the IRO crossmember, or is yours homemade? If homemade can you post some pics, I will make one if it comes down to it but my welder is about an hour away and I can only get to it on weekends really. I have looked at other skids but they look to hang down much lower than the IRO crossmember, and are shapped to the stock crossmember. Thanks. |
I'm running their long arm system and just use the cross member as my skid. I've bellied mine out a few times and it takes it just fine. If you're looking for more protection, you're probably going to have to build something custom.
I'm a little surprised IRO hasn't made something for it yet. |
I came down on mine pretty hard last weekend, I am not worried about it holding it's own.
I am worried if I come down on something a little further back and catching the t-case, I will fab something up in the next coming weekends that extends a bit further back. I am also surprised Iron rock has not come out with something specific for these kits. |
Same as above, I only have the IRO under there and it has had no issues. I don't think it would be too hard to make one if you think you need it though.

And IRO seems to take forever to develop things. Ive been asking for almost 2 years when their rear coil-conversion will be done for XJ. Nothing yet. That being said I still love their stuff- Just got their d44 truss and some Bilsteins for waaay cheaper than anywhere else.

Either way, no complaint. I love their customer service and control arms. OP, post some pictures after you build something up. I would be interested to know what you come up with. |

I've been planning a t-case skid too. it looks like it will be easy to just attach it to the IRO cross member. I'm also interested in seeing some other ideas.

I got a cardboard cutout made of the basic design, but I did not make it to the metal shop in time to pick up some steel. So it will be a while before I make it up.
I will post up some pics when it is done. Thanks guys. |
