Iron man motor mounts on, and mechanical fan touches shroud.
Just installed the iron man motor mounts, it lifted the engine 1/4 inch. The mechanical fan is now hitting the top of the fan . What should I do about this. I do not want to lose the shroud because I know it plays a large roll in cooling the motor effectively. I have a 1988 mj 4.0 and it does not have the additional electric fan.

What kind of shape is the trans mount in? Sagged? Old?

i would think you need to move the shroud up if the trans mount is good. now that you have lifted the motor 1/4, it causes clearance issues because the shroud mounts to the "body"

I thought their motor mounts kept the engine in the stock position, if anything lowered it to compensate for driveline differences after a lift...? Were your old ones that worn? Anyway, your best bet sounds like what Jakbob mentioned. The radiator and shroud assembly rest on pins that drop into the header panel (if I remember correctly). You could probably add some washers/spacers to those pins to raise it up enough to clear the mech fan.

No their mounts lift the motor to compensate the rear DS angle by decreasing it, just like a tcase drop. x2 on moving the fan shroud. or cutting alittle clearance where it rubs.

Trim it i dont even have a shroud my jeep never sees over 200. Or put some washers between the trans mount and the cross member might lower the front of the motor.

Very! but the crossmember is unbolted right now and is sitting where it will be with a new transmount, which I have already. I plan on installing it tonight or tomorrow and the I have to put my new header and intake back on and hook everything back up.
Here are the old mounts.

"thejerm" is right they raise the engine 1/4 inch to help with angles. and yes my old motor mounts were very worn. as you mentioned with the spacers, that will not work. there is not pins just long notches that slide into the clip. there would be no way to make a spacer for it.

I really dont want to trim it. I already have a hard time keeping the engine cool because I don't have the second electric fan. also adding washers between the cross-member and trans mount would defeat the purpose of the transfer case drop and the motor mounts....

Well it's seems to be working fine but that's the next thing to replace. It only heats up on the beach in really soft sand. I have already flushed the system, added a high flow, flow-kooler water pump, high flow stock temp thermostat, and new hoses. I saw no change at all from that stuff.

If you wanna go a bit overboard on a fan clutch as far as moving air, get a Napa #272310. Noisier though.
