Default Iro otk steering

Hey everyone,

I just recently lifted my rig up to 8.5" and now I have some HD tractor steering! I have been looking at the IRO OTK steering conversion as a remedy for this. It is 100% bolt on with little modding to my rig. The kit also converts you over to heims. I have heard alot of people love them, but also an equal amount that despise them. I have no experience with heims or IRO's steering kit so I am asking you guys for advice. Oh and I dont know if it makes a huge difference or not, but there isn't much hardcore wheelin here in indiana, and this rig is my dd. my main concern is to tighten up my steering, while wheelin ability is secondary. thanks guys

Look into ORO u-turn setup. Its true cross over steering. Ive got 8.5in lift and my steering is tighter than a camels azz in a sandstorm.

Its also 100% bolt on.

Your drag link angle will still be terrible.

will it work? yes.
better than stock? sure.

Would i buy it? never.

If you are running the stock dana 30 front axle, I am a fan of the wj crossover steering swap.

It gets you better brakes, an awesome drag link angle (and trackbar angle to match, this means your axle will go more up and down than side to side upon suspension travel) tie rod can be mounted OTK as well.

I'm running the IRO setup, it's not bad. The angles don't look bad to me, I don't have any bumpsteer. You do have to drill out the holes in both spindles and in the pitman arm to use the heim hardware. I had a problem where I had the clamp on the "drag link" at the axle end turned the wrong way and it cut down one of my tires during left turns. Also, you have to have the clamp turned right or that drag link just flops, you don't want the bend any lower than the heim. Solid as hell though once you get it setup right.

@Ktmracer419 - Got any pics of that WJ Crossover steering swap?

Your angles arent too bad because you are at about half the lift of the OP. But still, perfectly flat is ideal for the most unrestricted movement and a tighter turning/feeling front end.

I don't have any pics myself, but google should help ya out there. Its completely bolt on from a jeep grand cherokee wj minus having to weld a couple spacers to the knuckles to maintain proper u joint alignment. I believe jcr makes the spacers. If i ever built a dana 30, it would most definately be equipped with that setup.

I would hope so as it's also $260 more and possibly the most expensive 'solution' available.

The IRO is plenty stout and you'll notice an immediate improvement in street behavior, if that's your primary concern. I've put mine through some hell up here in the PNW over the past year and it's been just fine on the trails (using the 5/8" hardware kit.)
