Default Which intake/exhaust gasket?

I am putting my rugged ridge headers on my 94 xj motor. I have 3 different gaskets to choose from. A thin sheet metal one with some sticky stuff on it. A thick silver one and another thick silver one with some steel rings lining the openings on it. Is there any advantage to one over the other?

The "silver" one is a soft compound that is good for sealing small nicks n scratches in your mating surface. I used the Fel-Pro one with the rings on mine.

I used a Fel-Pro one that looks like the top one you have and I sprayed it liberally with the copper gasket sealer before installing.

As Outlaw mentioned, the other two are good at sealing small nicks/scratches. But from experience, that soft compounds tends to deteriorate after a while. I used that type (Fel-Pro) on my 351 bronco and in about 3 months there was a section was blew off :/ Might just be my luck tho.

The one withou rings was damaged in shipping. I'll probably use the one with rings then! Thanks.

Nope, I had a 351W they're notorious for leaking. Lol

Good choice. Just grab a can of Permatex Copper gasket spray and coat both sides before installation.

True..but from then on the thinner multiply gasket worked the best so I've stuck with it even on my XJ

Gotta love that Copper Coat! I even use that on head gaskets.

I've never used the copper coat stuff. But anything I can do to improve my chances of it staying sealed I am all in. So all you do is spray both sides of the gasket and give a quick shot to the metal surfaces of the head and header and slap it together?

I spray multiple coats, waiting for each coat to dry and then "slap it together". I probably used half of the can just cuz I don't know when I'll be using it again..lol
