Default Installing Spartan Locker in c-8.25 w/ 4.56

SO... I ran into a snag. I have the C-8.25 on my 97 XJ. I have 4.56 gears in it. I am installing the Spartan Locker in it. My problem is, My ring gear, since it is now 4.56, is really thick!!! I cannot remove/install the center pin without removing the Ring gear. With the Locker in, I cannot get the c-clips in since the center pin had to be installed before the ring gear. I NEED HELP with any ideas on how anybody got through this problem. Thank you in advance for any and all help!

Yup, that's the easiest way that I know of. And the manufacturer's recommended way.

I'm not sure if pulling the ring gear off and putting the locker in that way would be wise or not. Might be more work then what it's worth

Remember if you do pull the ring off, the bolts are reverse thread.

Are you sure? You've had it off before

You only have to grind a few mm off a corner of one tooth. Not the whole thing. Use a dremel.

Yeah it's seriously not enough to effect it at all. I trimmed a tooth in my 8.8 a year ago.

See three comments up from yours, Mr White's post.

Just don't use a straight edge. They're dangerous

I didnt have a dremel. So I very carefully used an angle grinder with a grinding wheel. Not a cutting wheel. Worked great.

It's way easier to do it that way... I spent an hour yesterday trying to get the roll pin out and cross pin. Pulled the carrier out in 5 minutes had the roll pin and cross pin out in 10. Ring gear came off easy too. No grinding lol but glad you got it in and works!!
