installing adjustable lower control arms ?
 

I have a 92 xj that i put a 3.5" lift on about two months ago and today i just got some adjustable lca but no instructions. I have done some research and found one spot that claims you can install them with out jacking up the jeep or taking the wheels off just unbolt and replace one side at a time. Has anyone here done this? Is this safe to do?

Are you setting the length before or after you put them on the vehicle? In either instance, when mounting (the most likely) longer LCA's, you will have to reposition the axle slightly forward. If you do not jack up the vehicle, you will be effectively moving the weight of whatever is on each side, when repositioning that LCA. I'd think that having it jacked up would make this reposition ALOT easier as it takes the load off that side of the axle/wheel.

I have the length preset and plan to use rachet straps to move the axle forward or back. I don't think it would be to hard to move the axle as the wheel will roll. Im just un sure of the safety aspect.

I ran into this myself back in 2001. Didn't have any help.
There is a lot of weight on the axle and using ratchet straps alone is really tough.
Jack up the Jeep and put jack stands under the frame, or if you have a heavy duty bumper use a High-Lift to get the Jeep up.
I used a bottle jack to manipulate each end of the axle to line up the control arms. Oh yeah, best to do this on flat ground.
If you take both arms off your pinion is going to move up or down. I used a bottle jack again to rotate the pinion snout.
Stay away fom add-a-leafs. Learned this the hard way too. Full leaf pack is the rihgt way.

Well i decided to just go for it and it went easy with the rachet strap.
