Reset the ECU. Unplug the battery, give it a few, plug it back up.
When I had header issues, I came across the same problem. Reset the ECU and she started up fine. Hope this helps. |

I never took the throttle body off or anything. I just removed the airbox and stock snorkel. Nothing more. I just compared my jeep to another and everything is plugged in properly. I'm lost
The hose running from the valve cover to the intake? If this broke and was left seperated, then it would leave an open port for air to enter the intake. Try reconnecting the hose with tape, and lots of it. If the problem remains, then the only other thing I can think of is that the intake is not sitting flush with the cylinder head. |

I replaced the pcv. So I have to take it all back apart? That is the last thing I want to do right now. Any easy way to tell if that is the case? And I don't see why it wouldn't be flush
Did you tighten the bolts to torque in the correct pattern? Here's something to help troubleshoot a bad IAC if thats what is causing the problem: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f13/h...-valve-756934/ |

I guess I didn't know there was a correct pattern. I'm starting to think this is my problem.... not cool
Here is a link to the correct tightening torques: http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/...rque_Specs.htm As for the pattern, I think you start from the center and work out alternating between upper and lower bolts. Might have to search for that one. |

The Hayne's manual has bolt tightening sequences for header/intake manifold as well as torque specs. If that's the problem, get a new gasket and clean off both surfaces nicely. You start in the middle and kinda alternate in a criss cross pattern up and down-if that makes sense.

Ya I'm young and have skinny hands so it definatly helped me out with gettin to those bolts hah. Well ill either get to it late tonight or tomorrow night. Wish me luck! And thanks for all the help everyone
Then, torque them down accordingly. |
Good news! I loosened all the bolts, re-fitted it and torqued them all down in the order the Haynes tear down book said and everything is good now. Engine noise is close to zero and she sounds pissed off comin out the back now. Love it. Thanks again everyone for the help!

Glad to hear it.
Ready for summer yet? I know I am. This winter was sure odd. |
