inner c brace/ inner sleeve on a hp d 30

at what point in tire size on a xj for moderate wheelin' use is both or either mod needed/ recommended. trail riding, mild rock crawling, etc.

tire size doesnt matter so much as how you drive it. you could drive 37's to work every day or you could desert race on 33's.
there's some good in trussing a D30. minimizes ring gear deflection, stops housings from bending. I'd truss before I did sleeves. in fact I'd never bother with sleeves.

if you're planning on moving through a trail a 20mph and bouncing off of stuff yeah truss and gusset. or if you're just one of those unlucky people that bends random stuff. but 85% of D30's that get wheeled are gonna be just fine. I made that number up but you get it..

Well, they say that 74% of statistics are made up on the spot anyway.

It sounds like you use your XJ like I do mine and I do not plan on bracing or sleeve till I break something. I'm on 33x12:50's/4.56 gear/Locked F&R

I'm not a big "Loud Peddle" guy anyway and ease through most things when possible only WOT when it has to be.

yes im also 33's , 4.56, locked up both axles, w/ 30 yrs of off road driving exp. i know how to pick a line, dont bounce it & use the gas pedal w/ care. but this is my first ride w/ the d30 front axle, always had d44's prior to the current xj. so just wondering ?

nah. D30's are not toothpicks. and hey, we even run the same size ujoints as your dana 44's!
