Increasing lift an inch or two
Long time browser, first time poster...
I have a 98 automatic with a 3" RE lift put on the by the previous owner. The lift is about 10 years old and holding up well, but I'm looking to lift another inch or two. I was wondering what I should be looking to get. I was thinking about doing coil spacers and shackles in the rear for another inch, maybe inch and a half. I have fixed lower control arms and adjustable uppers (new bushings on all), IRO double shear track bar. I'm running 32x11.50 BFG A/Ts now and I rub on the bushwacker flares. I'm going to trim the flares for clearance. Should I go for the spacers and shackles or new coils and leaf packs? Or should I spring for a new lift? I'd like to keep it as cheap as possible.

Sounds like cost is a factor so would just go with the spacer/ shackle. Keep in mind though that the higher you go, the more likely you are going to have to buy other stuff. If you go 2' you definitely will. (SYE/Steering/Driveshafts/Control Arms/Brake Lines etc.) Also if you are going to get up to 5", it is going to start to be pretty rough and you might want to think about long arms.
If it was me, I think I would save up for a new kit or till I could afford to spend the money should I need SYE etc. (not sure if you already have it). If you don't want to wait, don't go AAL or blocks, stick with the shackles. I wouldn't spend the money on full leafs/coils at this point.

I just raised mine 1 1/2" to a total of 4 1/2 - 5" using coil spacers and a set of boomerang shackles greaseable (helps some with rear leaf flex). The reason for a cheap lift right now was all the other upgrades done at the same time. I will never go over 4 1/2" of lift not necessary IMHO after reading all I could over the last 10 months here and other sites.
Again I thought several things needed to be done with a lift of 4 1/2"'s and do it right the first time, I will do a longarm kit as soon as I build up funds again. Not in any order as such but SYE/driveshaft/brake lines/Adj. Upper, Lower Control Arms/Adj. Dbl. Shear Track Bar/Quality Shocks/Sway Bar Disconnects/WJ Tie Rod Upgrade/Bump Stops/Trim Wheel Wells for the extra flex. I may have forgotten some things but these I did do and a lot of others with nothing to do with the lift.
Some of these things you may get by without and not have any issues, but when I read on something I jot down different issues of note. The items I replaced came up many many times on 4 different forums over the last 3 or 4 yrs. so as problem areas, so I gave them merit.

After some more research I think I'm going to hold off until I can do it right. Right now I can only really afford to lift it where I want it but I won't be able to afford the SYE, driveline, etc. And I want to make sure it's done right. I'll be saving! But thanks for the feedback

Good choice! Plus you mentioned trimming the flares anyways...Jeep looks fine, too...What I wouldn't do for my Jeep to be lifted back up to stock, non-sagged height haha
