Idea for Race XJ Fuel Setup
 

Working on a new fuel setup for my 95 race XJ.

Deleted fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator.

Deleted return fuel line.

Deleted factory fuel pump and fuel tank.

Newer model fuel rail added using the factory sending line only.

Fuel cell added.

Inline 79 ford fuel pump added.

Inline adjustable fuel pressure regulator added.

Gasoline will now travel from my fuel cell into the fuel pump. Then into to FPR. Then from there what's not needed will be returned to fuel cell and the rest sent thru sending line to fuel rail at a constant PSI.

My goal is to keep a constant 45-50 PSI on my injectors at all time even at WOT. Even if it overloads a tad at idle. While racing on the track I think it will give me an advantage over the guys running stock fuel setups.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

What else have you done to the engine? If its close to stock, I dont see the fuel rail being a limiting factor.. is it just to mate to the newer fpr? What injectors are you using?

Like you said the reason for the fuel rail swap is to use a different and more high performance FPR.

I'm either going to use the 703's or the 715's.

But if your engine is stock internally, and you still are naturally aspirated, you will see little benefit to high performance fuel components. It may give a slight edge, but you are talking about a fairly extensive fuel system upgrade. I would invest in other things before worrying about fuel.

What sort of intake are you running? You'll be pushing more fuel, so youll probably want more air or you wont see the gains you're looking for. The stock air box and throttle body aint gonna cut it. Arent you selling a stroker?
