I need track bar relocation help
I'm in the process of installing my 3.5 inch rubicon express lift, and the instructions say to shift the track bar mount over toward the driver side by 3/4". I found some tutorials and drilled a new hole over 3/4", so it looked like this:
However, the hole appears to be up too high because the track bar hits the top of the bracket when it is pushed into place. Here's another picture... (I know the axle needs to be shifted but the track bar seems like it would still be too low)
I may have drilled the hole too high, but any lower seems like it would be too close to the edge of the bracket. Any help is appreciated and I am open to suggestions. I've looked at drop brackets and those might work, but I'm not sure. I also would prefer not to spend $150 on an adjustable track bar unless it is absolutely necessary

If you want to do it right than it means buying an adjustable track bar. Or building a new one. Otherwise as suggested above, weld it up and drill a new hole. Those brackets are very weak to begin with. Im always leery about drilling them. You can see your stock hole is wallowed out already too.
If you do choose to reinforce it find a nice thick washer and weld it around the hole too so the bolt cant do that again.

Okay, thanks for the advice. Good thing i just got an arc welder
so drop brackets aren't any good? and if I do weld a new plate in, how low should the new hole be?

I can't believe RE suggests this in their install instructions. It's done all the time but... really?

i'm trying to do it as affordable as possible, but i'm sure the adjustable track bar would be the best long term fix. I just learned to weld, so I don't know how confident i am in my skills yet, but I'm sure it's possible....
