I need some help planning
Ok so this summer I want to lift my 2001 cherokee sport 3 inches, maybe 4.5. The jeep right now is stock, and this will be the second lift I have installed, which is why I want to wait and do some more research. I am willing to spend money to do the job right. Right now I am looking at getting:
-The rough country 3 inch lift with full leaf springs
- adjustable track bar
-steering stabilizer
-Rear and front break line extensions
Maybe?
-SYE
-Drive Shaft
Do I need a SYE and Drive shaft? Is there a better kit to buy? I would love some input/advice on what you guys think I should do. Like I said I'm just planning to do it in the next 3-4 months.

4.5 inches you will need a sye if you go 3 inches you probably won't need one.I would save up and buy a kit with everything like http://www.seriousoffroadproducts.co...-NP231J-T-case as long as you have a np231 your good to go with that kit.

Im sure you also have the Np242 transfer case? if so I think Iron Rock Off Road has the only SYE for the NP242 but its a hack and tap SYE.
I think Maybe Tom woods has a SYE for the np 242 Im not sure.
Here is something to look at

There is a lot of negative feedback on rough country. Look into a better lift like Rubicon express or something. Lifts are simple to install and take a weekend maybe even a day to install

The RC kits are not the most desirable period. With entry level kits what your paying for are the leafs and coils the rest are all cheaper items. One of the best kits for the money is the Rustys kit a 3" full leaf/coil both American made package and one of the very few that aren't imported for $438.
If you want a really good kit and money isn't an issue there are several nice Longarm kits complete in the $2500 range and up. None of these include an SYE or driveshaft.
Dumajones posted that list and it is a good one to follow for everyone. The only thing I would change would be Adj. U/LCA's to it. I started with a 3" Rustys full leaf/coil package kit and when I increased my lift to 4 1/2" I still used the same leafs with 1 1/2" boomerang shackles and new coils. The cost between a 3 and 4 1/2" lift is considerable to do properly the lift kit is the cheap part. As for the steering stabilizer most just use a less expensive one.
Here are 2 photos of mine the first with the Rustys 3" lift and the second with the lift increased to 4 1/2"'s as described.

I have to give Rusty's some praise. I have 6.5 in. leafs, exo cage & no sag. Also, I have a stock style drive shaft without a SYE. It may not be the correct method but it works for my setup. I do plan to change it in the future.

Yeah I did some more research and I think I'm going to go with the rusty 4.5 inch lift. It's $700 and will all the extras over $1000 but like I said I want good quality and Rusty seems to have the best reputation. What brand SYE and drive shaft are you gonna go with man?
