I was looking into building
A custom shift link for the np231 as I did my ax swap now I don't have a link to the t case selctor. I've read up on it found that I can get the selector off a s10 that's pointed up 2 female rod ends and 2 jam nuts and a section of all thread but what I don't get is everyone says I need an extended shift lever off the back of the shifter. Why do I need this ?

I took a look at the range of motion and if I use a Clevis joint or **** even a heim I will still have enough room on the body side to accomplish this. I just have to get a s10 **** arm for the transfer case. 2 joints and an all thread
