Default i have a major problem

My xj is a 87 with a 4.7 stroker and d44 rear sitting on 37s I broke both u-joints today, killed the drive shaft and broke the rear yoke, so will a slip yoke eliminator kit like this will it help prevent this from happening again?

Those joints look like they have been bad for a while, pretty dry.
