HyperTech Max Energy Programmer

I'm getting a HyperTech Max Energy Programmer for my 97 Cherokee. I'm going to run all performance tunes. If it does not show a increase in horsepower I will be returning. What do you guys think? I do not care about gas mileage...any other ideas to make my jeep stronger, quicker, faster?

stroker, turbo, supercharger, v8. Lots of things to make you go faster. It just all about the $ your willing to spend

Save your time, money and effort. Tuners for the 4.0 do absolutely nothing. As stated above, stroke it out (giggity) or swap a motor in....

A programer won't do much of anything,The 4.0 in these jeeps is a 60s tractor engine its designed to run forever and already running the best it can as it is now.A modern engine a tuner can help a lot because they are detuned a lot.

Get a bunch of K&N stickers, each one add about 5hp.

It is derived from a CAR engine. Never designed or used in tractor applications. Even had an overhead cam version at one point.

One that might gain you a little is the TrailJammer from Superchips it is a complete system that will gain you some different things.

I'm in the process of having a new engine built stock but all top notch new parts. Block race prepped, balanced rotating assembly, a small amount of head work. I have bought a TrailJammer Kit and will be bolted on before it goes on the engine dyno with a stock ECU also. Will find more later on but it will do a lot for what this engine needs.

The best bang for your buck would be the combination of a high flow intake, bored tb, and a free flowing exhaust

This. I am related to the founder of a company that sells a lot of tuners, mostly to the custom truck crowd. I asked his advice on a tuner last year, and he told me to save my money.
