how to change injector data in PCM?
All:
I am thinking about doing the 703 injector upgrade in my 97 Cherokee but did not want to throw off my mpg meter on the roof. I know it is silly of me but I think it would bug me to get different values. I under stand that this unit probably uses the speed signal from the transfer case and also the injector pulse durations to calculate the mpg. I would assume that since I am using an injector with a slightly different gal/hr rating that my mpg gauge would be thrown off?
If so, how to I change that stored value in the PCM? Has anyone ever done this? I know I will probably ask the dealership to do this if I install the injectors.
thanks,

You're over thinking this by a country mile. Just do the swap and be done with it. The 703s do not flow any more that what came stock in your XJ, they just have a better spray pattern. Your mileage will not change and you will not notice an increase in horsepower, the engine will idle a little smoother and the throttle response will be better. For another mod that is practically free is to move the intake air temp sensor from the hot intake manifold to the cooler air cleaner assembly. Again, no huge gains, but smoother running.

You're right. I should just do the mod. I only was trying to keep the mpg meter correct. Man I love this machine!
