Default Homemade Snorkel

Hey Guys!

How can I make a homemade snorkel the quickest, easiest, and cheapest way? I have to have this done in two days. The State that I live in is in the direct line of fire for a very severe hurricane with very damaging flood waters, and gusts of wind over 100 Miles an hour. All the Jeep people around here are telling me to make a Snorkel or else I won't be able to go through Flood Waters because I'll hydro-lock my motor (I knew that already). I know what a Snorkel is, but how do you make one? I know there are two small holes at the bottom of my airbox but I don't even know how I'd run something out of those two holes. An immediate response would be great, as we have no ride, and nobody will give us one because they've all got their families...And I reeeaaallllyyyy don't think the Taurus is gonna make it through flood waters. :/

Thanks a BUNCH guys!!!

This is a home made cowl snorkel https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f67/my...snorkle-67919/ the other type is the one sticking up from the fender,That one takes more time and looks ugly home made. With a cowl snorkel your fine unless water comes over your hood up to the wind shield but by that time your kinda screwed and floating probably.Just remember safety never cross fast moving water,If your not sure on how deep it is look around see if any cars are stuck in it or worse case walk out and find out.

You are also going to want to dielectric grease the heck out of every electrical connection you find.

a cowl snorkel is only good if you are going through water that is only as high as your bonnet.
in floods, you may be in deeper so try running it through the wall of the engine bay and up the windscreen like a normal snorkel. it will work much better and also suck cooler air as it is not sucking hot engine bay air

Cut round hole in hood directly above throttle body.

Attach 3 foot long, correct diameter PVC directly too top of throttle body.

Install cover on top of PVC

or

Just don't drive thru flood water that deep.

or

go on vacation.

or

buy a kayak.

or

stay home.

Ya know. I've never been to Florida when it didn't rain.

Pours almost the entire time I'm there. Every time.

Thanks a bunch guys!! Wind is already starting here, and they've declared Maryland, New Jersey, and Connecticut as a state of emergency. All weather channels are saying the winds are going to be as powerful as an F3 twister...(Stronger than the Perfect Storm that happened in 1991). Working like a total dog trying to get the Jeep flood worthy!!!
