home made cowl hood lol
I got a cheap hood scoop from autozone to make a cowl hood. i figured this would help with underhood temps
just cut a hole and put the scoop on backwards i think it turned out good, my jeep is all about function not looks

..why wouldn't you put it on the other way?
Edit: Is it so the air goes in the front grill and up out there and down the back side? Cause personally I think it makes more since for all the air to be moving the same direction?

Because it's pointless to use it as a scoop. The hot air from the engine gets carried out of that cowl.

Yes its so the air from the fans have another place to escape. And if it was used as a scoop when i had water coming over the hood (it happens to me alot) it would go into the engine bay. Plus 5mph on a trail is not going to push much air in a scoop.
Ill make a drawing of it if you still dont understand

that's pretty cool. i'm thinking of making my own cowl hood, too. i have no welding skills, but my dad does, so I may try it when i go home. how much does it lower your underhood temps?

I used to get to about 225isj after about an hour of ideling in the texas heat, now I stay around 200 with a 195tstat. So I think it helped out a good amount.
And I'm using an aftermarket gauge not the stock ones, so the temps given are accurate.
