I purchased a 99 xj about a year ago and have put about 15k miles on it. For the record I'm not a very tech savvy person I have been noticing abnormal wear on to my front tires and some horrible death wobble. Upon investigating I noticed there is no steering stabilizer installed. The original owner had upgrading to Currie steering. Could installing a steering stabilizer help with my death wobble and abnormal tire wire? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Stabilizers just mask death wobble. They will help mask it, but will only make a bad problem worse

A steering stabilizer will help with the wobble a bit but there is an underlying problem. The tire wear could be from your alignment being off, worn unit bearings, ball joints, or steering components.

This forum can only guess as to what your problem might be. Get in there, put your hands on your steering and start shaking stuff around. Have your buddy turn the wheel back and forth while you watch to see if there is play in your steering box, frame rail, maybe some sort of mount came loose. check all your bolts. put the front end on jack stands and rock the tires side to side, see if your unit bearings are bad. check your ball joints. If there is a problem with your front end it should present itself very quickly. If you can't find anything wrong it might be time for an alignment and tire balance. if none of this fixes your problem, then consider a steering stabilizer lastly.

check your ball joints, track bar angle, tie rod ends, control arm lengths and possibly wheel bearings. many things can affect your tires and also give you some type of wobble.

i ran without a steering stabilizer for a couple days when replacing my tie rod and i never experienced any wobble, so like it was said multiple times it will only mask the problem, it won't cause it.
