HID issue, any advice?
I have a 98 XJ and i just put in new open beam projector headlight and a 10k HID setup. After installing all of it i cranked up my XJ and cut on the light, they worked fine. I turned off the headlights and turned my key toward me a bit so the XJ isn't cranked but power is still going to the electrical systems and the lights stay off as expected. I turn my key a final time to the point where i can take the key out of the steering column and my HIDs kick back on. No power suppose to be running to them and im not sure how its doing it. I unhooked the ballast for the time being. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience, any help is greatly appreciated.
PS: i can remove my key from the column on the 2nd turn, where i have power but not cranked up the jeep yet. But all my systems are on and im sure that will kill my battery.

Do they stay on or turn off after a period of time. A lot of times there is a delay switch where the stock head lights would stay on for a bit after turning off the engine and removing the key. When I installed my HID's my lights would stay on so I just ended up removing the delay plug/ sensor or what ever so now they turn off fine. There is a plug located in the lower corner of the dash under the steering wheel where your left knee would be when driving. If you remove all the trimming and find it a little above and left of the obd 2 port you can unscrew it then unplug it

Haven't given it much time honestly, when they cut back on i gave it like 15 seconds. Like i said before i just unhooked the ballast, but ill wait it out for a minute or so and see what happens. If not ill look for the delay sensor. Thanks
Another thing you can do if your headlights do not shut off after pulling the key is to flash your high beams with the engine off before pulling out the key. However I got tired of doing that all the time and never cared much for the delay option so I just pulled the relay out...took about 5 minutes if that.

Was pretty much going to post this too, cept its not just the color, its the housings too. I just didn't wanna deal with the people that "think its got a perfect cutoff" lol

Yah that high beam solution works, tried it yesterday. Might end up yanking out the relay after a while.
The HIDs i understand that they are bright, i may have went to bright with 10k but they are more white than blue but still quite bright. I know the projector housing doesn't have a "perfect cutoff" so i might think about moving to a lower intensity. This is just a trail rig atm so it doesn't get to much road use at night. Lights were mainly for looks and car shows. I have a 24 in light bar for night time trail rides.
Also thanks for all the advice guys, it is much appreciated.
