HID Component Burned Up

I have FST's (Kris ****lich(Froehlich)) HID kit installed in my xj. I'm on a trip moving from Kansas to Utah and as luck would have it my radiator blew 6 hours into the drive. Luckily I was able to baby it to a store and replace it in the parking lot. However, something happened and now it acts strange when it tries to turn over. It's like it's trying but not enough power or gas or something and struggles to turn over but eventually it does turn over. As a result, when I turned her over after getting gas a few hours after the radiator incident, my lights wouldn't turn on. So I get out to inspect it and I'll be damned, a black component from my HID kit was on fire! So I'm now stranded in Cheyenne, Wyoming until morning.

The question I have is what's the name of this part or better yet, where can I buy a new one? It's not the ballast. It's the circuit board/controller thing that connects to the stock wiring and to each of the ballasts. It's black too.

If I were you I'd buy a pair of stock lamps for now. Good luck.

Can you get Chris to answer your call and find out if he has any or can even get them anymore? Do you still have your stock wiring with you to go that direction?

Some pictures would be nice. Maybe get a cheap ebay set for now or stock lamps like stated and then track Down some info

It is probably the HID relay.

I would honestly remove it and stick some regular 7x6 housings in there for the trip.

These kits still need alot of DIY to make sure the wiring is right and it sounds like something was miswired, or came loose when the radiator blew.

On my HID kit that I haven't installed yet, that box is labeled as a shutter controller for the high beams.

This guy's single biggest professional achievement has been taking peoples' money and then NOT answering his phone. Or email. Or text. Or Facebook posts.

The best thing the OP can do is buy a couple of sealed beam headlights and put them in for now. Kris' kit did not require butchering the factory harness, and in fact is set up to use one of the factory headlight plugs as a trigger for the relay harness, which based on description is what caught fire.
Once the OP gets settled, a new harness can be sourced on Amazon for less than $20.
