Default Will these S10 springs work for a bastard pack?

I am going for 3.5"-4.0" of lift and 31s. Picked these up off CL today to make a bastard pack. 2001 S10 Leaf springs. I thought there would be more leafs in the spring pack as I have seen on here. Will these work or do I need the ones with more leafs?

I also need to figure out what front coils to get, as well as front LCAs etc. I've read that the rear LCAs from a WJ can be used in the front of an XJ, but I'm wondering if they will be too long for a smaller lift. Anyone know?

Thanks for the reply. That is a great thread and actually where I got the idea about using the WJ LCAs. I just didnt know if they would be too long for the lift I am going for. I dont want the axle to be too far forward.

I may be mistaken, but it in that link it looks as though he is using the fronts as fronts and rears as rears for the upper and lowers....and also drop brackets for the front LCAs. I am talking about using WJ rear LCAs as fronts (which are supposedly 2" longer) on the XJ. But upon further research, they may be too long for a smaller lift like I am planning.

I'm still more or less a complete newb, but I do read a lot. That said, I don't think I've ever read about anyone doing what you're thinking of. That's not to say that it won't work of course. You might be able to track down the eye/eye length on other, aftermarket, non-adjustable front lowers and see where the wj rears fall in line with those.

That's probably not something you didn't already think of though. Sorry if I'm not much help.

That would be good if I could find it. Will have to look around to see if it's listed anywhere.

Went to the Junkyard today. Spotted several S10 trucks and blazers that had leaf packs with more leafs. Begining to think I will need some like those instead of the ones I got. Anyone know?

I can't find my thread I made(itouch) but google bastard pack on naxja and look for my thread, I posted a lot about different leaf packs from xj, s10, etc with their spring rate and load capacity which will give you an idea of how much or little of lift you would get. Of you're looking at 3"-3.5" lift, do a bastard pack with another xj main and second and do a shackle relocator and shackles to make up the rest. Give you flex, smooth riding, etc..

Watch BleepinJeeps video on the Bastard Pack, it will show you what you're missing.

I am using XJ main S10 main S10 second HDOffroad relocation brackets and just added RE 5" shackles(1"lift) and sit at 5" now. The S10 pack was off an early 2000s with 3 leafs plus overload.

Without the RE shackles, had stock shackles, and blown shocks it sat at just under 4" with a full tank of gas and about 4.5 empty.

I found your thread over there, a bunch of good info. Thanks! It looks like the thinner leaved packs would flex better.

Thats a great video. Thanks! Since I already have these, I will probably just experiment with some combinations.

Hmmm. That gives me some ideas. So are you saying that you are using a total of 3 leaves? XJ main, S10 main, S10 second, no overload?

I forgot to ask, was that with the relocation brackets? No lift ones or?
