Default help me with engine mod plans...

After hot rodding stuff for 30 years I finally got my first Jeep. A '93 Chero with a 4.0. Now I'm prowling this forum and finding lots of great ideas for a bit more performance. This will be a seasonal DD when my 65 Ford is in winter storage. I wanted to present my plan to see if I'm on the right track.
No lift kits, no off road plans just an A to B ride that makes the right noises and scoots when the loud pedal is pressed.

1- ignition tune up
2- I like the PVC cowl induction to the stock air box
3- 2 1/2" high flow cat, performance muffler, tailpipe
4- 703 injectors seem like a no-brainer
5- 99+ intake, planning some mild smoothing of ports with a die grinder.

Which brings me to the big question. Will the exhaust mods allow me to take advantage of the intake swap? I don't want a header system but I know that the exhaust side has to flow for intake improvements to work. I read the big write up with dyno charts and step by step but there was a lot of stuff in there I don't want to do- head work, headers, etc. Your experience with a similar project will help me decide.

Another question. At what point in mods does the stock computer become an obstacle?

Thanks in Advance

some jeeps came stock with a header pipe instead of a standard manifold. They have the bung already in it for the o2 sensor. I changed my jeep that had the normal manifold out for the stock header pipe and could tell the power difference....

what? the only manifolds that came with bungs for the 02s in them were in 00-01. and they're not headers, just a different style manifold.

They're called a Tubular Exhaust Manifold.

I have the factory tube type exhaust. Looks like a header as opposed to a cast iron log type manifold so I gotta figure it flows decent. Which begs the original question. Are there worthwhile gains with the intake manifold swap when doing significant exhaust mods including the cat but NOT using an aftermarket header?

A hi flow cat and exhaust system will help out.
