Default Help locating a short

I’m in a jam hoping for some direction. My 99xj 4wd 4.0 auto keeps blowing the #11 fuse in the kick panel. This jeep has been sitting outside for 8yrs. I just got it 6mos ago. It’s been doing good, but 3 weeks ago I was on a gravel road and it just died at 30mph. #11 fuse. Replaced it and drove 30 miles home. Haven’t drove it since until today. Drove 8 miles, and stopped to fill it up. Started right up. I pulled down to a stop sign, and it died sitting in drive at a stop. I jumped out and replaced the fuse. Turned the ignition on and heard it pop #11. Replaced it again and it popped at ignition on. It would then turn over but no start. I pushed back into the parking lot. Tried two more fuses, same result. Got a ride and left it. Went back 8 hours later, checked my ground tethers, disconnected battery, and pulled PCM plugs and cleaned with contact cleaner. Check and cleaned O2 plugs, TCM plugs, ignition module plugs, replaced #11 and it started right up. Engine revs, no check engine light. Gages good. Put it in reverse, blows fuse. Replace it, starts right up, put it in drive, pops the fuse. Repeated several times. I check the wire conn at the trans the best I could and found nothing. I then unplugged the TCM, replaced #11. Ignition on, placed it in neutral, started it and shift into reverse without depressing the brake, backed out and drove 8 miles home. Had to shift gears manually and check engine light on(TCM unplugged). I’d shift to N at stops and release the brake before putting in drive. No issues. Pull in the driveway, it idled in D while on the brake. Shifted into R with brake depressed and it popped #11. I’d think it has to be a dead short but I don’t know where to look at this point. When it blows the fuse, you can see blue flash from the driver seat. It’s a noticeable pop. Any direction is greatly appreciated. I’m stumped.

please tel us what parts and circuits fuse 11 covers, preferably referencing the FSM

There is a clever way to find an intermittent short, make an indicator circuit, hook it in where the fuse goes, start shaking harness etc, flasher will flash when short occurs

save blowing & changing dozens of fuses

Dunno about FSM (too much like hard work) but, fwiw, according to my guide #11 is:-"Gasoline 1999-2001): Powertrain Control Module, Transmission Control Module, Automatic Shut Down Relay, Fuel Pump Relay""

Because it's easy to check/eliminate (& cheap - if you keep away from the absurdly over-priced originals - to fix) my first step would be to swap the fuel pump relay with one of the others.
If that makes no difference, do the same for the ASD relay - & report back.

Update: found and fixed! So I swapped relays around and the issue was the same. I unplugged the TCM and the issue was the same. Following suggestions I replaced the fuse and started it up. While running I crawled in the jeep and shook/wiggled every connection and harness that went to the fuel pump and transmission. Found nothing. Went to the engine compartment and done the same thing. Wiggled all the connections to ecm, and all sensors. I moved the main harness from the PCM that runs around the firewall at the rear of the engine and it popped. I pulled the harness out of the holder and sure enough the end of the fuel rail was polished to a shine, and the loom was rubbed completely through with 3 of the wires showing copper. I separated the loom, cut the damaged wires and soldered them back together, covered in heat shrink and reinstalled the loom. Added a small zip tie to hold the harness up. Problem resolved. Thanks for all the advice and response’s! I wasn’t able to get the pics to upload
