Help! Going doorless.
Hey guys! I have a 2001 xj and I see all these forums about going doorless in pre-98s. I really wanna do this but it doesn't seem that there's ant threads about 98+. So, is there any way to do this? And also, for people that do this, I live in HIGHLY populated South Florida. My county has some 1,000,000 people in it. With that being said, if there is a way to go doorless in my 2001, how do I protect my stuff from getting stolen such as my after market head unit? Any advice is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

If its a newer head unit the face plate should be able to pop out, just take it out when you leave your jeep. for the doors i want to do the same thing , this is all i found on a times notice http://mikestrawbridge.com/blog/2010...jeep-cherokee/ the only thing is i dont want to really cut anything off.

The easiest way i foud is to just have a buddy or two hold up the door while you unscrew the bolts it, if you take off the pannel by your feet there should be a disconnect for the wires, if not you can cut them and make your own disconnects, then just unplug and take off, it will be harder than a wranglers but i think its just 3 torx bolt screws holding it on per hinge, but this is the easiest way i found without cutting and it will still look bad***

The link I used to do mine was this one:

But if you don't wanna do a lot of cutting other than the pin, you could go this route:

Believe it or not while I was doing mine I marked the the pass. door and forgot to mark the driver door. Well as it would go the driver door lined up perfect after it was all back together shim, hinge everything perfect. Now the pass. door which I did mark didnt quite line up. I had to tinker with the shims and whatnot. It was pretty crazy. But yea man its an awesome mod man and worth it. Its so nice when its 80 out and your ac is low on freon (sp) to just pull the doors off.
And X2 on going doorless.

I have a 1990 I was thinking about trying to use the hinges from a JK and putting them on. Maybe something like these....http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jeep-...item5639359f06.
I don't know if this has been tried but it seems like a good idea to me, maybe have to do a little bit of cutting but when its done it will be super easy to take the doors off and it should look good to.

I thought of using door hinges from something like that, or a TJ or something, but figured I'd try it with the stock hinges as I knew it's been done. I'd think you would have to brace up the sheet metal where those mount, as the Cherokee doors definately have some weight to them..
I find the hardest part of it all is pulling the wires through the body everytime (for now anyways).
