Default Help, crosspin stuck in carrier

I was lazy when I put in my aussie locker in my 8.8 and I didn't replace seals so of course a couple months later they started dumbing gear oil out the ends of one of the axle tubes. I pulled the locker out replaces seals and bearings so nothing should go wrong for a while and went to put it back together. I got the locker in the carrier and the pins lined up. I didn't put the springs in first. and tried to put the crosspin in. I remember it being a bit tight before so I whacked it with a hammer and now it is stuck. I can drive it through the locker with a hammer, but it won't line up with the hole on the other side. I also can't get it back out the other side. Somehow one of the spacers is putting enough pressure on the cross shaft pin to keep it from coming out.

Does anyone know if the gap in the bottom of the diff is big enough to drive the pin all the way out into. Once I pound it out in that direction there will be no way to get it back in and if it doesn't come all the way out the diff will be locked up with no way to get it back out. Any other ideas on how to pull the pin. Oh yeah, I was an idiot and inserted the end with the lockbolt hole in it into carrier so no I have no leverage to pull it back out.

lol, You're in a pickle. No, there's no room to push it the rest of the way through the carrier. Most times pin is stuck folks end up having to cut the carrier in half with a cut off wheel. You obviously don't want to have to do that.

Can you spin it around enough to get something under the cross shaft to pry it back out with? Or at least try to relieve the pressure from the springs?

I assume you still have the wheels off the Jeep, correct?

Yeah, wheels are off. I was thinking about cutting off the pin then it out a little more then repeating until I can push it all of the way out.

actually maybe if I put one wheel back on I can get enough leverage to pull out on that axleshaft and make room for the pin to slide through.

Got it out. I ended up pushing it out as far as I could with a brass punch and then grabbing it with a pair of vicegrips and pulling and twisting until it came out. It totally sucked, and I may now have a hernia, but it is out.

It doesn't have any burrs or scratches. Do you think it needs it? I cant get the damn thing through the carrier anyways so at this point I don't know what I will do.
