Help adding lift.
The sticky is so crowded that I posted 10 minutes ago and now I'm unable to find my own post.
But here's my question, maybe someone has an answer. So my 93 sport is on a 3 inch lift. F150 coil springs, bastard pack from an S10 on the leaf springs, the shackles are still stock. My question is. Can I buy 2 inch spacers for the front and 2 inch lift shackles for the rear to add a bit to my already existing lift? Or will that do nothing? |
if you have springs, adding the spacers will add lift to what you already have.....so a 3" lift with 2" spacers/ blocks will net a 5" lift.

sounds like a budget lift, but it would probably depend what else you have, control arms (upper/lower), shocks, etc.

Would I have to do a t-case drop and an SYE or is 5 just below the requirements for that? |
The shocks are already for a 5 in lift
The fella before me just put it on a 3 |
Each xj is different but at about 4.5 inches my 93 4.0 auto w/ 8.25 rear needed an sye with a 1/2 inch tc drop already on it from before
|
I'll look into all that as well.
Don't need a driveshaft falling out. Lol |
As stated you will more than likely need an SYE, if not for vibes than just the stock shaft being too short at that height.
You will need control arms because at that height with stock arms your tire is going to be way back in the wheel well, as well as at an extreme angle (drop brackets or long arms are advised at that height.) You will need longer brake lines, and depending what size tires you are running (33's for a 5"?) you might want to look into gearing the axle. Also depending on the tire size it would be wise to upgrade the steering and the brakes. It's not cheap to be at 5" so if budget is on the mind, 3" might be your best bet. Just my .02 |
on any lift over 3", you should replace the trackbar, lower control arm at minimum, brake line, shocks, and address the rear end and driveshaft. You will adress the shaft and rearend with some combination of SYE, TC drop and axle shims. With proper shims in the axle you should not need a TC drop with a SYE. In fact a SYE should in theory allow you to clock the TC farther up away from the ground.

You jeep is prob going not be very comfortable going down the road with more lift added on and having the s10 / f150 combo on there already. As for lifting look into a shackle relo box. They add about 1.5"-2" lift plus they fix your angle.
|
With that much lift, you'll need new control arms (upper and lower), preferably long arms. Longer brake lines, adjustable track bar, sye, 1 ton steering wouldn't be a bad idea since I'm assuming you're putting bigger tires on it as well. Anything over 3" of lift can start costing a lot of money.

Thanks fellas. Looks like my best bet right now is to stay with the 3 until I can afford the rest of that. Lol. Thanks for all the feedback.

Look into some of the Low center of gravity rigs. They run 35" tires on 3" lifted rigs. |
