Here I am again, another electrical issue and solution. This time, headlight switch.
Starting with the problem. I have an oem style headlight switch from the early 1900's. Seriously, that's what it looks like! For those not in the know, the stock switch consists of a pull switch with a resistor-like potentiometer. The "resistor-like portion is a spring backed against a ceramic ring. This set-up is, in my case and opinion, incredibly unsafe. It has the ceramic back for heat dissapation. It gets HOT. Burn skin on contact hot. Time to fix!
The circuit will be simple. Input to switch will instead go to a relay. From relay to SW1, which will engage running lights and switch 2 and 3. SW2 & SW3 will be for dimms and brights. Dash dimmer will have dedicated potentiometer mounted, also energized from SW1. Diagram of circuit tomorrow!
