Header and throttle body question & chip
Ok I have a 2000 cherokee 4.0 wanting to put a header on it, mine has the 3 into 1. 3 into 1 style manifold on it same with down pipe or whatever you want to call it where 2 diff pipes with collectors on them go down into 1 big pipe. Now aftermarket headers of this style are over 400 bucks, ( to much for my blood) Now 99 and older style i believe manifolds just have a normal full length header or close to anyways, where its 6 in 1 collector and after market headers for them are way cheaper 100 bucks and up. Now can i convert mine to this style or no?? Also looking into getting a throttle body spacer and maybe even a bigger throttle body in general too along with a chip/programer, what ones are good and ones to stay away from??? Please any info would help thanks a lot

Chips are also worthless on the 4.0. It will slightly change some stuff but the computer will relearn and adapt. Not worth it.

technically yes you could, but it requires alot of other mods... due to youres having precats and 4 o2 sensors. the 91-99 exhaust only has 2 o2 sensors and no precat. it would also be tampering with federal emissions.
youre current pcm is looking for four o2 sensors, 91-99 only looks for 2

The cheapest way to do this would to buy a header meant for your year.. Ad as mentioned before throttle body spacers don't do much but whistle. Chips won't do much eitheir sadly. If you want a little more power which is what it seems like, try a banks header which yes is a little over 400 but well worth it compared to getting a cheaper one from a different year and having to take the time and lots of money to get it to fit right and stuff. Also look at bored out throttle bodies. These are the ones I'm looking at. http://www.strokedjeep.com/tbody.html

mine is not the California emissions I'm sorry I forgot to mention that. mine only has 2 02 sensors & no precats. looks like I'm stuck getting the banks header & I will put on a high flow cat also right away to. and yes that's what I'm looking to do is get a little bit more power & mileage out of it. I will look at those bored out throttle bodys also. thanks for the info!!
