hack and tap
so i just installed a 4.5 lift on my 2 door 89 xj. i did the t-case drop brackets that it came with and the 6 degree shims with full leafs. i wanna do a slip yoke but thats a lot of cash. I've read a lot about guys running a hack and top system and using a front drive shaft in the rear. my question is with my 4.5 lift if i run a hack and tap system with a front drive shaft in the rear can i keep my shims or should they be changed? o by the way i got a 242 t-case

I have a '89 2 door & currently run the stock D shaft. I have a 6.5 in lift & 8.8 with the pinion pointed at the T case, no drop, but I don't think that has much bearing on the subject.
Flexes fine off road with no issues.......yet.

The shims are intended to be used with a double cardon driveshaft (front). Not the stock configuration.
6 degrees is a lot. I run 4, with hack-n-tap and stock front shaft. 242 TC.
