Hey all, Looking to make the switch to an H4 setup from old school no light lights. I've read up on a lot of material here and gotten a lot of great suggestions on what to do, how to do it, and so forth. The biggest thing I don't seem to find however is recommendations on the bulb itself. I did come across three posts where the Hella Halogen 100/80w H4 bulbs were highly recommended. What's everyone's elses input? I know I don't want anything with a coating as I heard it's trash, and my goal like many is just a brighter, better outputted low beam. Thanks for the input in advance!
Edit: Suppose I'll also mention that I'm looking to purchase the H6054 Hella 200 mm e-codes conversion kit with the Putco H4 wiring harness.

Cibie and IPF are at the top of the list as far as H4 conversion housings go, but the Hella's a decent as well.
I too run the Hella 80/100 only 7 bucks on amazon, at least when I bought mine.

Well I think I know what bulbs I am getting then. Any reviews or thoughts on that bulb vs some other xenon bulbs hella offers? I see they offer a 60/55w option but not sure how that compares to a standard halogen of theirs.

I bought silverstars for my h4 conversion. they work well. I've had them in about a year, maybe 20k miles so far. no complaints. I got flashed all the time when the lights were where they should've been aimed, but I ended up pointing them down quite a bit because of it.

If I am not mistaken 55/60 are the appropriate wattage for street use. Ive run the bulbs that came with the Autopal ecodes off ebay for two years now which are 55/60. Plenty bright. Added a harness not too long ago and am completely satisfied. Any brighter and I would definitely have to aim them lower than normal. If you spend more time offroad than on by all means go with what you want. Just keep the other drivers on the road in mind when installing/purchasing.

Of course. But just because your lights are aimed to not direct light toward oncoming traffic the extra lumen output can be too bright and blinding or just annoying. There are standards for a reason. I drive a decent amount and there are plenty of lights that are setup wrong or above spec. I just ask that people consider this. 55/60 is plenty adequate and I believe meets spec. When growing up my old man used to say "every step you take leaves a foot print. " it took me a long time to understand this. Everything you do affects someone or something.
