Grinding/crunching noise after lift
This is my first car...let alone first Jeep. I have 2000 Cherokee XJ 4Dr. I love it and have started modifying it. I recently had a 3.5" lift installed. Since the lift I have been hearing a grinding/crunching sound from the front end when coasting. It seems to only happen at 25mph and gets worse the higher the speed. Never happens during acceleration. Could it be the front differential? Bad U-joint? Do I need to instal an SYE kit?

I had a grinding noise coming from the underside, sounded like it was from the front diff or somewhere near there while i was coasting, mine happened to be the t-case; when i was coasting (mine was nearer to 40mph) it would grind like that - i just need a t-case drop

I had that too. The rear axle was binding a little due to the extreme angle after the lift. A CV shaft and SYE will fix it.
