Default grandcherokee alternator upgrade q's

i have a 98 jeep cherokee my 90 amp alt went bad on me the other day well i work at advanceauto parts so can some one just tell me which grand cherokee alt will fit. I know ill have to grind the mounting plate a little and do i grind on the engine or the alternator. also i would like to know the exact year and engine of the grand cherokee alternator so i know i get the right one and what amp its suppose to be i think it is 136.

I'm wondering the same thing as far as where to grind, but yeah I believe it's a mid-late '90's V8 ZJ application that you want. Your computers at work should specify which years use the same alt and what amperage it puts out.

Guys - the alternator you want for a NON-RENIX swap is a Denso 7913. If you have a Renix this swap WILL NOT WORK due to the different regulator configuration on the Renix.

Also not pictured is some grinding on the side of the timing cover but it is minimal.

ok well today i put one on i went to work got on the computer and just went to 1998 jeep grand cherokee 5.2ltr and got the worldwide reman that was 136 amp it was the right one so i went home took off the old stuff used a bench grinder and hand grinder on the bracket and nothing on the timing cover it didn't need it and it works out just right just change the thing on the back and it will go on thanks for all the help)
