Default Grand cherokee lift on a 88 cherokee

So I was scouring a local junk yard today and seen a zj or wj I can't remember which one that had rough country stickers all over it so I go to investigate and find a set of lift springs and long arms on it...I'm pretty sure I can buy these parts for under $50....will thus work on my 88 xj?

The lift springs will give you the same lift plus 1" the long arms will probably work if not you'll have to fab them to fit

Grand cherokees have coils all around. The coils will give a boost from the lift spec plus another inch(i believe). Just buy a kit, gonna cost the same amount in the end and you get what you want.

It'll require a lot of fabbing in the back to run coils. I'd pull it and sell it on craigslist and use that cash for your lift.

All of the front suspension will swap right over with NO fab needed.

If it's a long arm system that uses the factory control arm mounts, the arms will swap over. The springs will fit without any problems.

Longer than the stock arms are considered long arms, but you're correct, a true long arm kit requires a new crossmember for the arms to mount to. The original poster didn't specify if they were long arms, or looong arms.

I'm assuming they were just longer that stock as they were tubular and not stamped

That being said, did they have their own crossmember? Or did they use the stock locations?

If it were me, I would spend less time debating what kind of lift it is and more time getting to work pulling it.
If you can get all the components of a complete lift kit including control arms (even though its probably a rough country short arm setup) for 50 bucks, do it now!
As said before, the best bet is probably to sell the whole setup and buy the kit that is made for your Jeep. You should be able to get a couple hundred bucks minimum for that setup.
