Price is high, but that may be the way it is in your area. The Chrysler rear end with limited slip is nice. Like XJlimitedx99 said, 00-01 have some problems, and 98-99 seem to be well liked years for the XJ. Where I am, in St. Louis, those Jeeps would go for 4-5k, and I wouldn't pay more than 5k for one.

XJ's have doubled in price over the last few years. Everyone wants one! I got my Renix with 1 previous owner for $1800 about 3 years ago. I think 4000 is the most you pay, and even that is kind of pushing it. People think throwing a 3" kit under it makes it worth $10,000...

Honestly i would look for a virgin xj with no mods done to it.Reason i say that is most they get lifted do get drove hard off road. And its cheaper to do the mods you want vs fixing stuff someone did wrong or is wore out from use.Look for a 1999 or older mileage don't matter if taken care of,We have members who have broke 300k no problem out of the 4.0.

I agree with andrewmp6 find a stocker in good condition that has never sat and mod it yourself. I had to laugh at the one that said "brand new windshield!!" I'm thinking that's pretty common for Colorado XJ due to the gravel they out on the roads in winter. My buddy Chris had to repair or replace the windshield on his 91 4 years in a row.

Buy a stocker from a grandma that's only ever been a grocery getter. Hell, go south a bit and find one that's never seen a winter and drive it home with all the money you'll save
