Good Deal?
Hey guys, pretty new to this forum but have been lurking around for a while.
I recently bought a 01 XJ with 160k with minimal rust. Starting my new job(finally fulltime after 4 years of looking/applying) and once I get settled I plan on lifted my jeep. Right now I have a NP231 TC with a LP D30 upfront and a D35 out back with 3.55gears. I found a 8.25 with 3.55 gears out of a 97 for $200 about a half hour away. He said he will let me have the HP D30 for an extra $50. Both axles came from the same 97XJ and have 3.55's. Some people say the swap is pointless but there are some strength and ground clearance advantages. I figure for $50 why not. and in the mean time while getting settled in the job and saving for the lift I can strip both axles, repaint and install new wheel bearings, u-joints and ball joints along with brakes, which I plan on running discs in the rear.
Whats your guy's thoughts?
Thanks!

Couldn't hurt to have an extra front/rear end laying around. Not to much longer I'm doing a D60 swap but keeping my C8.25 and D30 as back up if something goes wrong.

That's what I've read. And I've ready it's not much better(not as many of these threads though) i think 125 an axle to upgrade for a few advantages is totally worth it
