Some time, in the future, I am planning to do a 3" lift. If I were wanting to bump it up to 4-4.5", could I just add an extended shackle and either bump up to taller springs or just slap in spacers up front?

Yep, though you might need longer shocks and brakelines. Get an adjustable track bar when you get your 3" and you'll be fine there. Also consider an sye or tcase drop for any vibes you may encounter.

Hrrrm, you should really consider converting it. You'll be far more capable.

You'll need most everything I said save the sye tcase drop, probably just a longer driveshaft. Although those things are long enough already dear god.
