Getting HID's, few questions.
So im gonna be getting a set of HID's here within the next 2 weeks, I kno there are lovers and haters of them but im not really looking to start a pissing contest on whats better. What I wanna know is should I do the wiring harness upgrade, or would it be pointless? I want to do this right the first time since I have to take my brush guard off and all that good crap. Also would I need to upgrade any fuses or anything else? TIA

saw you commented on my thread earlier...ill keep an eye on this too to se what people say because I am looking to do the same.
To be honest I think I am kinda swaying toward the deltas..they seem pretty reputable, as well as pretty easy to install.

Thanks wiggles thats what I figured but wasnt sure.
Sik_xj: As for the installation of the deltas the HID's im getting are just as simple they are plug and play aside from a ground wire I think. But they are the same as installing deltas because they come with new housings and everything needed for the same price as other upgrade headlights. Im just a fan of HID's and thats the route im taking. If you take a look at the link i posted in your thread they have an install video right there it couldnt be more simple.

Not to say your wrong but i think your wrong about the kit your buying having two different bulbs one high beam one low beam. Do you really think two bulbs can fit in a 7x6 headlamp?? Usually when u buy a kit from ebay or some where the kit comes with new 7x6 usually projector style headlamp (optimizes the the intensity of the hid light to be more directed and controlled with the projectors) the new head lamps are set up to allow H4 headlights so with the headlamps come a set of cheap halogen H4 bulbs that are no brighter then your stock xj lights now fyi, and then the main part is the HID kit its self, now there is two styles of HID bulbs out now 1) Basic HID bulb single beam 2) Bi-xenon HID bulb which is a dual filament bulb hi/lo . most of the kits with the headlamps and HID kits together come with the Bi-xenon because the original headlight that u will be replacing was a dual filament bulb. Following me so far? So from my personal experience with this set up with the Bi-xenon you get a stupid harness to hook to ONE head light original hook up then the harness goes to the bat +/- and then separate wires running out to hook up to the ballast then the ballast plugs into the bulbs. the first kit i bought cause my jeep to have such a massive draw every so often it would kill my jeep at random even while moving, so i returned that set and go a new kit and it worked but for some reason when u shut off the headlights with jeep still running the lights dont go off, u have to turn the lights off then flick the high beams on then back off and then they go off when i flick it back to low beam. so retarded!! plus bi-xenon bulbs are no brighter on high beam it just spreads out to the sides and ground in front of the jeep a tiny bit more, personally not worth the extra money. I would recommend, just a helpful hint , buy a set of 7x6 headlamps, then buy a single beam H4 HID kit u wont have high beams but u also wont have the problems usually related with the Bi-xenon kits, plus u look at $30 for a single beam kit and then around $70 to $100 for a Bi-xenon kit. but hey maybe your luck might be different ive been using HID lights for about 4 years now I love them because i hate not being able to see at night and HID's are super bright depending on color choice that is, but ive had them in my dodge ram, my cadillac cts had 3 HID kits in it one for low one for high and one for the fog lights (kinda **** about my lights all being the same color) and then up until recently i had my 00' XJ with them in it until the ground wire from the relay harness to my battery broke away and started smackin around and finally fried both ballast, so now i have another kit i recently purchased but havent put it in yet because i havent bought one for my bumper lights so they match yet. so hope this kinda helps ya out man HIDs are great to have but gotta watch what ya buy sometimes theres alot of cheap kits out now. hit me up if ya have any ?'s

I got them and love them. The kit I have uses one bulb for high and low. The bulb slides in and out of the housing to give you your hi and low beam. Def works good. The kit also come with a wiring harness to provide the power for the bulbs. The only thing the stock harness does is just activate the relay to turn on the lights and switch the beam. You may also need to remove the headlight timer switch behind the driver kick panel if the lights won't turn off when you push the switch in

Thats the kit im getting not sure if the link will work since im on my phone. But it has high and low beam although after reading more it says you have to wire up the halo highs seperatley. I wouldnt have an idea how to do this but that doesnt bother me for now. Ive made up my mind this is the kit im getting for sure in 10000k even if i only have lows ill be happy to have HID's. They do turn off correctly too according to the few people that have bought the same kit. It all seems simple enough to me so this is what im getting, no need to over complicate it lol

4000k is yellow.
5000k is pure white with a slight tint of blue When warming up.
6000k is blue.
Higher than 6000k is useless for light output, and looks ricey.
I always run 5000k because they are really bright and dont look like a set of cheap hid's that are blue or purple.
