Default Gear change and auto locker question

I'm currently running 3.55s on a D30 and D44 with a powertrax lock right installed in both the front and back. I'm having 4.56 gears installed soon, and I was wondering if these lockers would still work in the new carriers?

Being its a lunch box locker and not a full locker it should work,But being your going that big of a gear your going to have to replace the carrier probably so i would think about getting a full locker.

To be honest he's right. Since you're tearing in now is the time to do any major changes. And changing steps etc. No sense having to tear sort second time

I agree if you want auto lockers buy a new set now for those 4.56 gears and if possible buy quality the first then you won't have to look back. I have a HPD30 and a Chy. 8.25 use full case lockers in mine "Detroit Lockers" top of the line auto lockers for sure and very strong.

I would pull the ones you now have and try to sell them to someone who doesn't need HD lockers and recoup a little of your money. When I bought my gear sets Rustys had the best price for the gears I wanted and had used in my race cars for many years. For both sets of 4.56's with master install kits included was less than $500 complete. I paid a 4WD Shop $200 per differential to install the gears and lockers $400 total. FYI.

If you are satisfied with how your rig performs now, then there's really no need to spend money on new lockers. Your existing locker's will fit the new carriers just fine.

I appreciate the info everyone, I'll most likely stay with the lockers I have now as they have not been in long (installed by the PO about a year ago), but I'll do some research on other lockers. I wouldn't mind selectable lockers, but don't necessarily want to pay the boot they require

x2. It's always nice to have selectables. But if u don't wheel much or do light trails, then the lunch boxes would do just fine.

I would look up the price of new gears and carriers vs gears and whatever full locker you want.

A new carrier for the D30 is only $75 + or - 10 bucks. The better full carrier auto lockers don't have all the issues of the lunchbox lockers strength, noise for a few. Nor the problems with a selectable ones of air and electric issues.

I already have the 3.73 up carrier for the D30 and the 3.92 up for the D44, I was just making sure my lockers from the current set up would still work with the new carriers.
