Gear break in period 50 miles on off?
Just regeared shop recommend 50 miles on off break i. So the gears heat up and cool down.
For those miles keep it under 2500 rpm in 4 on off trips i am at 60 miles. Is it 50 can i start gunning her yet? |

I've never herd of breaking in gears. As soon as I heated my xj I did a burnout, like literally the first thing I did. And I have done a ton of gear installs on hot rods and most of the time they don't drive them at all before they go to the drag strip. I've never had any issues

Its to create a wear pattern on the gears all still suggest it and I did with my jeep (the first I ever did) all others were hotrods and cars that I installed 9" Ford rear ends in. All of those I installed were put in and raced hard with transbrake hits and lots of HP.
I knew nothing about the Jeeps so followed the directions for once in many years as for break-in's go. Just didn't want to have and do it twice from not knowing, comes from age I guess. |
