Anybody know any ways to get better gas mileage? I have a 91 i6 4x4 Cherokee and 13 miles a gallon doesn't quite cut it nowadays. I've already got a k&n filter and exhaust. I use the fuel injector cleaner about once a month. And I also had my engine and tranny rebuilt 25000 miles ago. Also it runs sluggish when I use lower grade gas. Any ideas about both topics?

Correct air pressure does actually make a decent difference.

Unload any extra weight, change your spark plugs, wires, distro cap, filters (fuel, oil, air), and oil.

Run 1/3 can of seafoam in your oil and drive it for about 10 miles before changing your oil and filter. Run 1/3 through your intake (dump a little in, start it up, rev it til it stops smoking, repeat til you've used about a 1/3 of a can), run the last 1/3 through your gas tank.

Forget the injector cleaner. It wont help gas milage but itll stop you from throwing money away. The stuff works but as long as you use quality clean gas your injectors wont get too dirty. Even with the worst gas I think once a month is too much.

It is. Anything like that, including seafoam, too often can knock more loose than you want it to and clog fuel lines, filters, injectors, mess up the o rings, ect.

Ok thanks guys. And also what do you think about the whole sluggish thing? It's pretty bad. Sometimes when I step on the gas it won't pass 3k rpm. It sounds like its trying to but just won't. Any ideas?

Could be your MAP sensor or TPS. There are a million and a half threads on this subject already in the OEM tech section

Vacuum leaks are common and will mess up your mileage.
Loose bolts at the intake manifold are common as are rotted vacuum lines going to the vac canister up behind the front bumper.
If you are low on vacuum, the map sensor will think you are standing on the gas pedal and the computer calls for more fuel.

Could be spark plugs, if they are worn and the gap is too big you could get spark plug blow out.

Change the fuel filter, if it is clogged you will get that sluggish feeling.
