Default front suspension bashplate mods?

So I have the factory front suspension bashplate (pictured) removed from a Cherokee Limited, which is the white one, my spare

thinking of fitting this up to my DD Sports, for its intended purpose, although its a bit of a nuisance for maintenance

Has anyone made any mods to the bashplate that would help it stiffen the frame?

Its too flimsy as it is to do anything, and I dont expect much, but even a tiny percentage is good, if it helps stiffens ones frame

like you said it's too flimsy to even remotely strengthen the frame. Not much you could do to help with that.

You're better off building/buying a beefy front bumper that tie the two frame horns together. Forget the factory front skid, it doesn't serve any purpose other than to get in the way.

look at it man, its super thin sheet metal. Its flimsy lol...i removed mine and never put it back. Its not going to protect anything if i needed it too and its just in the way when i'm doing work underneath

I guess whatever you want is good on your jeep. I can't say I have heard of anyone bending theirs though.

Best thing it does is cover the alternator when splashing around

Try welding on a plow mount, but change your sway bushings first or dont weld over them. Mine came with that. Not that I like it, but its 1/4 stock welded 9 ways to Sunday so am stuck with it.

if you were to do that, wouldnt it be better just to weld in frame stiffeners?

Well there's a reason Jeep referred to it as a "skidplate" and not a "bashplate" lol. Its not meant to be used as a frikin battering ram.

Once bolted up the factory plate is fairly stout, but given how its mounted, i wouldnt want it TOO strong. If i wheeled like a drunken tard and rammed tree stumps full force...

Id rather bend the skidplate than my subframe.

Thx for the input gents

On 11th Sept 2001, I was wheeling in a remote area, and a iron-hard old tree branch penetrated the bottom of my radiator, this skidder would prevent that

on the other hand, a hard rock smack would probably shove it back into the tie-rod

I will possibly be mounting that Factory Alloy bar, which has much stouter mounting brackets, allowing for a winch mounting plate to reinforce the front

be nice to have the Iron Rock gear, but it would be over 500 Aussie pesos to get landed here

Sure, but it would be hard to hook a plow to them.
