Front locker install
I recently picked up a nice used ARB locker for my front to go with the one in my D44 rear.
I am going to be getting it installed as soon as possible, but really haven't done much with gears.
I would like to replace the bearings if possible, so I would lik to hear everyone's opinikn on brands andwhereI to buy.
Also, if there is anything else I should have on hand, feel free to share your thoughts.
I'm sure I have most everything, but it doesn't hurt to document everything!
For the time being I will be keeping the gear ratio that I currently have.

you will only need carrier bearings and carrier shims.
all you will need to set is backlash and carrier preload.
have you ever done anything like this before?
its pretty simple if the gears were previously setup correctly.
and setup bearings make life 1000 times more enjoyable when doing this.

ive found that most any auto parts store will carry the bearings. but the shims are another story. i usually have enough spare install kits laying around where i dont need to buy just shims though.

89eliminator said he'd help me when he has time, so I am not going into this blind.
I have a good discount from Advance, where do you suggest looking for the shims?

According to the parts jocky they do not carry Timken bearings. But they said AutoZone has them.
They offered me 'National' brand, and said they were the better of the two they carry, drive works being their other option.
But they were $10 so not bad at all.

NAPA also carries the full timkin line. Ive gotten shims from them too. I think the national bearings are made in USA, but their no timkin. I just rebuilt the d300 case in my YJ, the kit with timkin was 100 more than the one with skf or national, must be a reason.

No idea about SKF bearings but I used SKF axle seals before, they seemed decent enough, fit well and no problems yet.

My napa has a timkin catalog I even looked through. I only use timkin, so not sure about other bearings. I have had the skf seals aswell, seemed ok.

But most Napa store around here aren't chain stores, there privately owned, maybe they dont ALL carry the exact same thing. Alot of guys I know have ran Napa brand bearings and had good luck with them.
