Front Eaton switchin on the fly...
-Ok so i have a HP-d30 w/an Eaton E-locker, 30 spline chromolys, & cryo'd 4.88's. The manual says it can be engadged on the fly at low speeds, BUT ive accidentally hit the locker once going round an exit ramp, & once at highway speeds!!! Ofcourse i was in 2wd but since i have the unit bearings the locker fuly engadged & made my XJ VERY hard to turn!!
-Now i have a 1-ton setup, a Quadratec power steering pump, i run synthetic fluid, have a PSC gear box braced with 3/16th steel & a cross brace!! So the question is why is it so hard to steer when i have every steering upgrade needed?? *Note that i used to run an aussie with no where near the steering power & it turned much easier!!*
-Yes i know that lockin an axle up 100% means both wheels travel at the same speed makin turning harder which is why i now have a selectable. When i did some testing in a parking lot, its still VERY hard to turn & the best way to fully diss-engage it is goin in reverse for a few feet, then move foward.
-Why does the Eaton make it so hard to turn?? Im gonna do some more testing in 4 hi & 4 low to see if it does it then. Thanks.
