Front driveshaft help!

My jeep recently started making a popping sound from the front end and it feels like it coming right from under my feet on the driver side. I got under it and was looking at my front driveshaft and at the slip joint it seems to be pretty loose maybe at least 1/4 inch that I can move it up and down. Could the splines be worn out and causing the popping sound? Also would it hurt anything if I took the front drive shaft off and drove around the block to see if it stops since the popping sound only happens when I'm turning or I'm just starting to drive.

Take it out. You can drive it like that causing no harm.

I did take it out this morning and took it for a drive and it was still making that popping noise.

Sound like the frame side trackbar bushing or possibly the motor mount.

check and see if there is a movement from the trackbar when you turn the steering wheel back and forth.

I did notice that the one unjoint in the front front axle is kinda loose. I can move it up and down a little bit when the drive side won’t move at all. I did put the Jeep in 4wd and when I turned the popping got noticeably worse
