Front Door Speakers
I have seen that 6.5 can fit in the front doors. Does anyone know of a good set that don't require drilling?
Also can you get 6.5 in the rear hatch?

Well, I put 6-1/2 inch speakers of Alpin SPG-17C2, which is coaxial. It needed a little bit of hammering to fit just right in. If you cut that hole to widen it, it might get rusted. So just hammer the hole inwards, it'll just take 1 min of your time. It has a 2.4" of depth, and didn't cause any problem. I don't know what is the limiting depth for the XJ, but I know 2.4 is fine .
And the sound is just amazing. I love Alpin, much better than JVC, Pioneer etc. I think it's the second best after Bosse systems.
And it's 5 1/4 the rear.

Go big put some 6x9's in the hatch! But then again that requires some "modifications". To answer your question yes and yes. I believe any brand 6.5 will fit.

Search google there are write ups but you have to cut the panel and fiberglass up. I actually cut two much and can only get 3 of the 4 screws in, but it still works fine.

polk db 6.5s here. no cutting, no drilling. i use self tapping screws. they fit behind the door panels fine. and no, i didnt use the shallow ones.
edit, you have a 93. you'll need to trim the door panel and use the new grille 99% of the time with a 6.5 in that spot.

I had Memphis in there no trimming and just switched to pioneer and also no trimming on the front doors, not sure on the rears because I have them in the tray on the headliner. 6.5 fit perfectly up there no problems

in the front you will have to buy adapters ($20 Best buy) and screw them directly into the door sheet metal and will have to cut the door panel to fit. in the back i was able to get the screws to fit in the existing holes, but i needed quite long screws and had to cut the panel to fit the speakers. i don't have covers on the rear yet because i'm a little puzzled on how to mount the covers without glueing them on.
