I know its a little taboo to link to another site but this should give you some ideas...http://www.cherokeetalk.com/forum/f8...ds-list-20765/
Check Rockauto.com for the springs. sometimes it just makes more sense to buy a part new, because even if you only pay 20 bucks a spring at the JY Your time, Labor, and gas to get there all add into the actual value of the part you are getting. Try and grab multiple parts to make the trip more worthwhile if that is the route you do take.
Quadratec.com and 4wd.com have some affordable springs. Remember if it says HD and you are running a stock set up add another .5"-1" to the actual height and maybe run a 1.5" coil spacer. The heavy duty springs i saw for the XJ were about $50 a pc. You'll want to get longer shocks or at least some bar pin eliminators to help maintain the shock travel.3 Inches is right on the cusp of needing to do some slightly more serious work.
Fun fact after you ditch the rear sway bar you can use the Lower stabilizer link mounting bracket as Bar pin eliminators. might require some slight grinding to get the bolt holes lined up for the shock bolts but its a nearly perfect fit otherwise.

You'll probably want to do shackles too given how week the rear leafs become on the XJs. My first XJ i did OME 2"HD springs in the front and back and the ride was unapologeticly harsh. the new one... I've added coil spacers to the front. AAL and shackles to the rear, with Pro-comp shocks all the way around and the ride is much more bearable for the time being. This is more of a tow rig at the moment than anything but eventually springs will be in the playbook but I'm budgeting this one a little more because I got a boat between the two and that's been my main financial money pit. more details in my Sig

Used springs are like a used tooth brush never a good idea.Like said you can get new oem springs from rockauto pretty cheap. But i would leave it alone tell you can afford to do the 3 inch lift right.
