Default front bumper question.

Ive seen some people do it. But I dont know what is all involved. I also cant find any pictures. Im looking for minimalistic and lightweight.

The bumpers ive seen that I like look like they just took the bumper off and theres a steel box right under the grill. Usually with two shackles on either side.

Anyone seen what im describing? Im pretty sure it strictly diy any input would be welcomed.

Thanks CF!

What is your question ? Because two users already posted links to the exact same bumper as the one in the video.

What does this canister do? As my son's 2000 seems to be missing it, PO said it had been in wreck, guess "body" shop didn't know better? Currently line is plugged, by me. Should I get one from JY?

Discovered during bumper install.

It's a vacuum canister, my buddy told me it was for cruise control and I didn't need it, but that was wrong. It controls the heat switch that changes between defrost, foot heat, dash heat, ac, etc. If the vacuum line is disconnected it will default to defrost only.

Plugging the line worked for me when I put in my bumper.

Most people relocate the vacuum ball to any empty space in the engine compartment. I put mine just in front of the blower motor.

So, is the canister year specific? As my son's is a 2000 and "my" JY doesn't have anything that "new", lol

The style might be year specific but all you need is a container of the same volume that fits onto that vacuum line. It can be stuffed up by the evap junk in a 2000

At WOT/heavy load when vacuum drops your HVAC will default to defrost.
