Freeway speed uphill...
Just wondering what everyone's speed is when going on a freeway incline? I have a 2000 XJ, HO I6, AW4, 31"s and 4.10s. I cruise at between 70-74 mph at 2500 RPM. When I start going up hill my Jeep slows down a good bit for m; say 62 mph. Am i the only one this happens to?

I can't do over 65 on the highway. Well I can but between the highways here being terribad road surface and worn out front suspension and unbalanced bias ply tires I don't like to.

I just moved to Wyoming from Montana. I was hoping that moving out of the mountains would help with that problem. Every hill in montana would slow me from 75 to like 68ish.
Turns out there are many more hills in Wyoming. They are endless. I think my stock ratio is 3.73 or something like that. I have a 2000 with upgraded injectors, cold air intake, and 2.5" catback. I need to kick it in overdrive on every hill, or accelerate on the downhill and try to maintain. My gas mileage suffers accordingly. I'd say 15-16 MPG when I head north into montana. Then 16-18 from there.
It does make me miss my Volvo a little.
I looked at regearing, but I like 31's and it doesn't make sense. I don't wheel, it's a DD and backcountry/fishing rig. That's my two bits.

Once I lifted and went to bigger tires (measures to a 31'' diameter as opposed to the 27'' stock diameter) I either need to put my foot through the gas more or downshift into 3rd (AW4 auto trans). Totally normal if you as me, I expected it to be worse than it is actually since I didn't re-gear.
Hope that give you some insight.

You could swap a manual transmission in your jeep. I'm on 35" tires with 3.07 gear ratio with an AX-15 and I do just fine with hills.

If i put my foot through the floor pressing the pedal, 4th gear (Manual tranny) on 31's maybe i can do... 70. Actually, i haven't tried recently with the upgrades I've done... (clean 703 injectors and a cone intake)
But at about 60-65, my jeep starts fussing and makes this annoying vibrating noise with the windshield.

I just put 32's on my AW4 with stock 3.55s I have to drive 75 to keep it at 2000 RPM on the straight and level and it will kick into overdrive on larger hills and still bog down.
4.10s or 4.56s are in my future.

I have an 88' upcountry laredo with stock gears and on a 3.5" lift with 31s, it hates keeping it's speed while going up hills on a road that's 55+ mph

i have 32" with 3.07 with an AX15, i cant be in 5th unless im doing 75+ hills are embarrassing. if i put it in 5th at 60, its about 1200rpm, only helpful going down hill.
