so been beating my jeep a bit and tired of snapping baby dana 30 shafts with the locker and 33s... don't wanna waist the money on chromos since its not going on the street so width dont matter.. im going for strength.

anyways iv got a high pinion king pin ford dana 60 thats going in and i have been talking to a jeep guy bout it and he says you gotta cut 4 inches off one side of the diff.. any ways i can get around that or no?

Ball joints must have been shot. You only have to narrow it if you don't want to go full width. D60 with 33s is serious overkill and plan on getting hung up on everything. You'll loose several inches of ground clearance. That being said what year is your axle because the 80s versions have very narrow driver side tubes and you end up having to raise the coil buckets about 3-4 inches or running coil overs or air shocks.

dont plan on staying with the 33s, built plan is, 60\14 bolt\ cage\ long arms\ hack and tap\ unibody strainghting.. all at once and somthin like a 37. im shaving the 14 bolt ad high steer the 60 later. the diff is a 90s i think..

also when the shaft broke guess there was enough to rip the ball joints apart and the bottom ball joint hole was not round no more

you dont have to cut anything if you dont want to. stick to some wheels with numerically high backspacing and you wont be very wide. search, there are a lot of threads dealing with axle swaps. with a 60/14 and 37s is a strong combo.
